Symptoms of New Coronavirus Strain You Should Know

Coronavirus! Name it, and a strain of panic fumbles around our body. Thank god the vaccines are now somewhat available. But don’t be careless as a new strain of coronavirus has been identified and it is spreading across the world like a wildfire.  The new strain COVID-19 has become a major concern. It was identified by the WHO, belonging to the south-east of England. In India, too the ‘N440K’ and ‘E484Q’ variants of SARS-CoV-2 have been detected.

According to medical professionals, the new variant is more infectious and potent than the original strand. Covid-19 symptoms are more noticeable among individuals who have caught up by the cruel claws of the new UK variant. This being said, we are now discussing different symptoms of coronavirus related to its different variants.

New COVID-19 Strains: Its Symptoms

Symptoms of new coronavirus strains have exhibited similar symptoms to that of the original variant. But, they have been detected with new ones too.  The general symptoms of original COVID-19 are chest pains, continuous cough, fever, a loss of smell, taste aches and chills. The new strain (apart from the usual symptoms of old COVID) includes 7 new symptoms, which include:

  • Diarrhea
  • Conjunctivitis
  • Discolouration of fingers or toes
  • Pans and aches
  • Sore throat
  • Headache
  • Skin rashes

One of the major concerns of the new stain is that it initially does not show any symptoms. The symptoms usually begin 2 to 14 days after a person contracts the Coronavirus. Elderly people are likely to show serious symptoms and their chances of recovery are very low than the younger ones.

Wuhan Covid-19: Its Symptoms

Dry Cough – More than 30% of people infected by the UK Variant have been found to suffer from dry cough, signalling a higher concentration of the symptom in individuals when compared with the Wuhan Variant.

Body Ache – Since the symptoms in the new strain of coronavirus increase their concentration in each consecutive aspect, it causes severe body ache. 24% of more infected individuals have shown signs of muscle weakness and body aches. They were more susceptible to the same symptom in comparison to the older variant.

Fever – People suffering from the new variant of Coronavirus have been reported to have a fever. The percentage of individuals who experience the same is greater than those of the Chinese Covid-19 strand.

Loss of Taste and Smell – The new strand of COVID-19 does not include a loss of taste or olfactory sensations in patients. If you retain the sense of taste and smell, you should be aware of other symptoms and their propensity to figure out whether you have contracted coronavirus or not.

Fatigue – More than 30% of individuals infected with the UK Variant of Covid-19 have complained about weakness or fatigue or weakness and show signs of tiredness.

Bottom Line

Coronavirus spreads faster in comparison to the flu. It causes severe illness in old age people. It takes a long time before showing any acute symptoms. While some coronavirus symptoms are similar to the flu, it can be difficult to distinguish between the two. Hence, medical examination and testing are necessary to establish the diagnosis. Although the COVID-19 Vaccines are somewhat available, being careless towards the virus can lead to pulling you towards a serious concern.
